Riverfest

Went to Riverfest for the first time ever last night. All in all, quite nice. It's much nicer at 9 pm than earlier in the day, Train put on a pretty good show, did a lot of walking, but I need to. Something that still sticks in my mind.....the lead singer from Train was wearing some TIGHT jeans. I don't mean "not baggy", I mean painted-on tight. It was 85 degrees dude and you're under some really hot lights....why not wear something that would let the air flow through? And he's a scrawny dude at that. (Of course, he's probably sweating off 5lbs every performance.)

Why oh why didn't someone tell me when I was a teenager "you're only going to be this skinny ONCE in your life....quit wearing clothes that are 4 sizes too big and show some skin" ?? Really. I was covered head to toe back then in clothes that I can still wear now. Youth, wasted on the young.

Not so bad

Mom came for the weekend. I was prepared to have my house cleaned (that I'd already cleaned) or hear disparaging remarks about my weight (especially after her comment as we were planning that SHE doesn't eat lunch AND dinner). Thankfully, there were neither.

Had a good time at a local festival with a college friend of hers and her daughter. The daughter is nice, but a bit, well, fluffy for my taste. Doesn't help that she has a very nasal-y voice. Anyway, we did have fun. Did a bit of shopping, which was fun--especially hitting 2 foodie stores to pick up things for dinner. Note to self...even when you need to keep something cold and you have a cold bag, buying ice at Sam's is probably not the best idea. They don't sell 8 lb bags of ice at Sam's....they sell 20 lb bags of ice at Sam's. At least the turkey and ravioli were safe....

Discovered a new cheese at one wonderful store: Humboldt Fog. Wow, this stuff is good. It's a goat's milk cheese, very rich with a nice layer of ash and a layer by the rind that is almost like a triple cream cheese.....yummy yummy yummy. The girl at the cheese counter was very generous with sampling (another reason I love this store).

So now that Mom's gone, I have chores.....
